The Lycée's two large gymnasiums, with a fully equipped dedicated workout room and a climbing wall, are for PE classes at all grade levels. The Lycée gyms are home to our competitive sports team games year round, opening Lycée doors to competition in such indoor sports as basketball, volleyball, and gymnastics, across NYC's private schools.

Student well-being, self-understanding and personal growth are essential areas of focus for students at all age levels, but especially so in the Middle School, where students are going through one of the most significant stages of their social and emotional development. In this room, students may meet with advisors or our middle school counselor in one-to-one or small-group settings to discuss their well-being and to learn strategies to manage emotions, anxiety and the stresses of adolescent life.

The Lycée auditorium is a focal point of school life for all students, who in addition to cultural events and conferences, enjoy student performances, theater classes, and assemblies and even debate, all held here.

Reading areas, equipped with lounge chairs and moveable tables, give students a quiet place to read or study, and also to work on group projects.

"If you can dream it, you can make it!" is the mantra of our dedicated Maker integrator, who oversees this space dedicated to creation. Using principles of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math), students are able to use design thinking to bring ideas to life through sewing, woodshop, 3D printing or computer-aided design.

The Lycée's York Wing, a 19,000 sq-ft building extension, opened in 2016, and transformed teaching and learning at the Lycée. With new student spaces, tech-enhanced classrooms, and moveable furniture, teachers were given the structural tools to engage students in 21st century learning through collaborative and independent projects.

The Media Lab houses a television studio replete with professional camera equipment, a production studio, and wall-to-wall green screen. With support from the Lycée's Digital Learning Team, teachers and students integrate multimedia storytelling and broadcasting techniques into their classes, creating engaging new ways for students to learn, create, and collaborate.

The College Counseling Office is staffed with four counselors, with deep knowledge of colleges and universities in the US, France, Canada, the UK and around the world. In 11th grade, students begin to work one-to-one with their college counselor, who helps to prepare them to explore and to apply to the plethora of higher education opportunities available to them.

Students from first to fifth grade take art class weekly from our Primary art teacher, who is a fine artist and educator. Students learn the foundations of drawing, sculpting, and painting, while studying techniques throughout art history. Teachers work closely with the art teacher to develop opportunities to integrate art creation into their own classroom activities.
